This section presents a selection of results from the numerical simulations. Particular emphasis is placed on key parameters, include the platform’s decay response, the aerodynamic thrust force on the rotor, the fairlead tension in the windward line (ML2), the bending moment at the tower base, and the pitch about the hull COG. Note that the term ‘relative’ is used in some of the plots. This implies that a dynamic response is being presented with respect to its value at static equilibrium. Results obtained from Flexcom simulations are compared with results from another participant (NREL’s ‘first team’) and with experimental data obtained from the University of Maine (Borg et. al, 2019).
