Parked Idling

Previous pageNext page

Introduction

This model considers the turbine in a parked state, with the rotor free to spin slowly although the generator is not generating any power. This state would typically be used during high winds.

The wind turbine blades are feathered at 90 degrees to the incoming wind direction to minimise aerodynamic thrust and torque on the rotor. The rotor is aligned with the incoming wind flow so there is no skew angle in the horizontal plane.

5 separate steady wind test cases are analysed, with constant wind speeds of 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 m/s respectively.
