Detailed Information

Issue 1: Flexcom GUI shows incorrect model preview for lines modelled with truss elements

Related Topics: Model View

Description: The Flexcom GUI uses a preliminary model solver based on a Runge-Kutta solution scheme. This allows it to compute catenary profiles and provide an initial starting point for the finite element solver. Information relating to truss elements is not correctly accounted for in the model preview, and this may lead to non-convergence of the static analysis.

Workaround: Use beam elements rather than truss elements to create the correct model preview and then run the static analysis. Examine the OUT file for the correct nodal positions and then redefine the truss element model using *NODE and *ELEMENT rather than *LINES. The new model should converge on the first iteration as you have provided it with the solved static solution.
